Committed to building a “Global Value Creating Company,” Samsung C&T America’s (SCTA) Steel Division has been a leading global provider of import and export trading services for iron and steel products throughout the North American and Latin American market.
By utilizing our vast global sales network and creative marketing strategy, we not only specialize in the trading and distribution of steel products worldwide, but also dedicate ourselves in providing the highest quality and service we possibly can at competitive pricing to each customer.
Our goal is to be involved and engaged in every step of the Value Chain process—from handling logistical transportation to managing warehouse inventory to providing a wide range of value added services including slitting, edging, and pickling to financing credit activities. SCTA values every customer relationship as a key partnership and views that our success is the product of your success.
Our Steel Division focuses on two core operations.
SCTA’s Carbon Steel Unit trades and distributes all types of high-quality carbon steel products such as hot/cold rolled flats, coated steel flats, tin mills, tubular, wire rods, bars, and long products from established steelmakers, including Pohang Iron and Steel Company, one of the world’s leading integrated steel manufacturers.
SCTA’s Stainless Steel (SS) Unit imports and exports high value-added stainless products including coils, sheets, plates, shapes, round bars, tubing, and pipes. SS Unit also deals steel products used for specialty applications including rods and wires. By providing the very best materials with fast, reliable logistical solutions and competitive pricing, SCTA is determined to be a leading trading service firm in the global iron and steel industry.
In order to respond successfully to the demands of the ever-changing iron and steel market, Samsung is vigorously expanding from its traditional trading services to manufacturing, distributing, and running coil depots and precision stainless steel mills around the globe.
Currently, Samsung maintains and operates three coil centers in China—Xingpu, Dongguan, and Suzhou. In early 2008, Samsung established a new coil center in Slovakia and acquired an existing coil center in Malaysia. Our firm ensures continued success by establishing distribution points throughout the world to create a true global steel supply-chain network.
Furthermore, Samsung operates and manages three stainless steel mills in Romania (Otelinox), Japan (Myodo), and China (Pinghu). In 1997, Samsung C&T Corporation acquired and transformed Otelinox through significant capital investments in facility improvements and R&D into a state-of-the-art precision stainless maker in Europe. In early 2008, Samsung reached another milestone by successfully acquiring Japanese precision steel maker Myodo Metal, one of the world’s leading stainless steel mills. In 2010, Samsung completed construction of a new precision stainless steel mill in Pinghu, China, and the Plant 3 production facility in Otelinox. As of today, Samsung has become a dominant player in the global precision stainless steel market, reaching an annual production capacity of 72,000 tons.
